Why Isn’t The Schedule Free?

People sometimes ask us why the schedule isn’t free. After all, they say, "this is all a matter of public record!"

Well, yes that’s where it starts. But the public sector hasn’t elected to spend the additional money and commit the other resources that are required to put the data into the form that you see here so you can actually use it. The public sector simply puts the data out there for you to find if you can and do with what you will – or not.

It takes a very large commitment of human time and other resources each week to bring you the schedule - and much more yet for the foreclosure offerings to come. The people who put the schedule together each week won’t do it for free because they are nice people – they want a paycheck. The rent is due. The power company wants to be paid for the electricity to run the computers that support the application. And so on, ad infinitum.

We don’t use the "support it through advertising" model because the schedule is too important to too many people for us to rely on the vagrancies of ad budgets. We publish the schedule through economic thick and thin. When the need for the schedule is greatest, i.e. hard times, is precisely when ad budgets get cut. We have found, over time that the subscription model works. Enough people are willing to pay the subscription price for the schedule to warrant our continuing to produce and publish it. We do our best to keep the price very reasonable in relation to the value you receive.

Quite seriously, if you aren’t willing to pay at least the posted subscription price for this kind of foreclosure information (to us or anyone or even yourself), we would encourage you to reconsider your aspirations to purchase property at foreclosure auctions. The process does not yield up its treasures easily and if you don’t start with the best information you can get, you are likely to commit a lot of time and effort only to give up empty handed in frustration.
