What Happens When You Click Submit?

When you click Submit on the Search Criteria Page, Teledex will evaluate your query and return the results to you. If your query was successful, these results will be in the form of an index display of the possible sales in which you might be interested. If there was a problem with your query, you will see one of a number of possible error messages.

A message at the top of each index page will restate your query in plain English. Other messages will tell you how many records the system found and where you are in the index.

Moving Up And Down Through The Index Pages

Often, the index will have multiple pages. Each index page will display a fixed number of records. Click the Next and Previous buttons at the top and bottom of each index page to move up and down the index. Alternatively, open the drop-down box by clicking on the arrow and select the number of the page you want to jump to. Then click the Go To button. The index page you asked for will come up.

The Detail Pages

Each sale in the index has an underlined hot-spot at the left side of the entry. Click the hot-spot to see the detail page for that sale. From the detail page, click Return to Index to go back to the same index page you just came from.

Once in a detail page, you can scroll up and down through all the detail pages for current index page without returning to the index. Simply click the next and previous buttons. You can only scroll through the detail pages for the current index page. You must go back to the index and move to another index page before you can see the detail pages for that index page.

Refining Your Query

Teledex saves your current query when you click Submit (except in certain resulting error conditions). This allows you to go back and refine your query without having to start over. Both the index and the detail pages have Refine Query and New Query buttons at the top and bottom of each page. When you click Refine Query, the system loads your current query back into the Search Criteria Page for you as it redisplays that page. You can then change just what you want and resubmit your query.

New Query

If you click New Query, the system clears out your current query before redisplaying the Search Criteria Page. This will save you a step if things are running slowly. If you're not sure whether to keep your current query or not, click Refine Query. The Search Criteria Page also has a New Query button so you can clear the screen and start over anytime you want.

Navigation And Your Browser

Your browser is your window to Teledex. See Using your Browser with Teledex for important information about browsers in general and tips about navigating and conserving your hits. You might want to review these as background to the information on hits below.

Navigation And Hits

Teledex uses hits as you submit queries and navigate. Click here to go to the top of Hits on Teledex where you can browse through hit topics. For information about how Teledex uses your available hits as you navigate, see Hit Accounting. For tips on using your Browser to get the most out of your available hits see Getting the Most Out of Your Hits. See Sessions and your Browser for a couple of very important caveats about using your browser during a Teledex session.
